What is ELDT?

ELDT Training

Entry-Level Driver Training, commonly called ELDT, is the federally required training for many drivers obtaining a commercial driver's license for the first time. ELDT requirements apply to drivers obtaining a Class A CDL or Class B CDL for the first time, upgrading from a Class B to a Class A, or obtaining certain endorsements for the first time.

Training must be completed through a provider listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR)

Precision Driver Training provides convenient, affordable Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) for individuals, businesses, and government organizations throughout Virginia and Surrounding States. Our program combines the convenience of online ELDT theory training with personalized on-site behind-the-wheel CDL training. Complete your theory coursework online, then we'll come to you for the hands-on portion of your training.

How does it work?

1. Complete your ELDT Theory Online Through us

Complete the required theory portion online, giving you the flexibility to study around your work and personal schedule.

2. Begin Hands-on CDL Training

Once you're ready for behind-the-wheel training, our instructor comes to you. Training includes pre-trip inspection, vehicle control, range exercises, and on-road driving.

3. Prepare for your CDL Skills Test

We don't just teach the minimum requirements. We work with you on the skills, procedures, and confidence needed to prepare for the CDL skills test and safely operate a commercial vehicle.

4. ELDT Completion is Reported
